Variation of accreditation condition

Report on the variation of a condition imposed on the accreditation of two higher education courses of study offered by the Technical and Further Education Commission

On 15 March 2018, a delegate of TEQSA:

• revoked, under section 53 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), Condition 1 imposed on the accreditation of the following courses offered by the Technical and Further Education Commission (refer public report of 24 March 2017):
• Diploma of Information Technology
• Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security)

Condition 1

By 31 October 2017 the provider reviews the course curricula to ensure the Diploma of Information Technology and Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security) address core theoretical frameworks and research, and submits to TEQSA the revised course structures and outlines for both qualifications (HESF 3.1.2 a, b, c and HESF 3.1.1b, c, e, f).

Condition 1

On 25 June 2018, a delegate of TEQSA varied, under section 53 of the TEQSA Act, Condition 1 imposed on the accreditation of the following courses offered by the Technical and Further Education Commission (imposed on 15 March 2018):

• Diploma of Information Technology
• Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security).

Condition 1 (as varied)

By 1 September 2018 the provider reviews the course curricula to ensure the Diploma of Information Technology and Bachelor of Information Technology (Network Security) address core theoretical frameworks and research, and submits to TEQSA the revised course structures and outlines for both qualifications (HESF 3.1.2 a, b, c and HESF 3.1.1b, c, e, f).

Main reasons for the decisions

The decision made on 15 March 2018 to revoke and re-impose Condition 1 was to allow the Technical and Further Education Commission more time to meet the requirements of the condition, due to the particular circumstances of the case.

The decision made on 25 June 2018 to vary Condition 1, imposed on 15 March 2018, by extending the due date from 31 July 2018 to 1 September 2018, was necessary in light of changing international standards for curricula in this discipline.

Revocation of registration conditions

Report on the revocation of conditions imposed on the registration of the Victorian Institute of Technology Pty Ltd

On 14 June 2018 a delegate of TEQSA revoked, under subsection 32 of the TEQSA Act, Conditions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 imposed on the registration of the Victorian Institute of Technology Pty Ltd (refer Public Report of 26 May 2017).

Main reasons for the decision

The decision to revoke the conditions was made on the basis that the delegate was satisfied that the conditions have been met.

Course accreditation

Report on accreditation of one higher education course of study offered by Jazz Music Institute Pty Ltd

On 26 June 2018 a delegate of TEQSA accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the following course offered by Jazz Music Institute Pty Ltd, for a period of seven years until 26 June 2025

• Diploma of Music in Jazz Performance

Main reasons for the decision

TEQSA made this decision on the basis that it was satisfied that the course submitted by Jazz Music Institute Pty Ltd for accreditation meets the Provider Course Accreditation Standards of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015.

TEQSA's assessment considered Jazz Music Institute Pty Ltd's arrangements for delivery at all Australian sites.

Revocation of registration conditions

Report on revocation of conditions imposed on the registration of CIC Higher Education Pty Ltd

On 27 June 2018 TEQSA revoked, under section 32 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), Conditions 1, 3, 4 and 5 imposed on the registration of CIC Higher Education Pty Ltd (refer public report of 26 October 2016).

TEQSA made this decision on the basis that it was satisfied that the conditions have been met and/or are no longer necessary.
