Report on renewal of accreditation of six higher education courses of study offered by JMC Pty Ltd

A delegate of TEQSA has renewed the accreditation, under section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), of the following higher education courses of study offered by JMC Pty Ltd until 31 December 2019 (to align with JMC's period of registration):

• Bachelor of Creative Arts (3D Animation)
• Associate Degree of Creative Arts (3D Animation)
• Diploma of Creative Arts (3D Animation)
• Bachelor of Creative Arts (Game Design)
• Associate Degree of Creative Arts (Game Design)
• Diploma of Creative Arts (Game Design)

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed two conditions on the accreditation of the above courses of study. JMC Pty Ltd must:

Condition 1:

By 30 June 2017 JMC must provide evidence of course documentation to demonstrate that the assessment for each accredited course of study is aligned with the course learning outcomes and AQF level.

Condition 2:

By 30 June 2017 JMC must provide evidence of its completion of the audit of academic staff teaching the Creative Arts courses at each campus, and of its reporting to Academic Board for approval of academic staff appointed under JMC's criteria for equivalent professional experience.

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

Main Reasons for the Decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to the accreditation of the two courses of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as the courses are at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards.

The broad issues which relate to these courses include:

• PCAS 1 in relation to the requirement that course documentation clearly demonstrates the expected learning outcomes of the course of study
• PCAS 4 in relation to the staffing profile and qualification levels of teaching staff at each campus location.

A delegate of TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education course of study offered by the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors Pty Ltd ATF AIPC Trust trading as College of Leadership and Business (Colab) for a period of seven years until 14 June 2024:

• Bachelor of Business

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the above course of study. The Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors Pty Ltd ATF AIPC Trust trading as College of Leadership and Business (Colab) must:

Condition 1:

• by 31 March after the first full year of delivery of the course and for three years thereafter submit to TEQSA:
• Evidence of external benchmarking of the Bachelor of Business against similar accredited courses, specifying benchmarking partners (e.g. institutions, programs, stakeholders), benchmarking strategies, and plans; comparative student performance data in the form of annual course reports submitted to the provider's relevant academic governance committee (PCAS 1.2 and 5.5)
• Evidence demonstrating analysis of student outcomes data (progression, attrition, and completion rates, grade distributions) and any recommendations or actions arising thereof (PCAS 5.4).

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

Main reasons for decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply a condition to the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors Pty Ltd ATF AIPC Trust trading as College of Leadership and Business' (Colab) application for accreditation of a course of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors Pty Ltd ATF AIPC Trust trading as College of Leadership and Business (Colab) is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors Pty Ltd ATF AIPC Trust trading as College of Leadership and Business' (Colab) capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

• The broad issues which relate to the Bachelor of Business include:

  a) Design of the course of study, in particular retention and demand in new broad field of study (PCAS 1.2)

  b) Benchmarking and monitoring (PCAS 5.4 and 5.5).

TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education course of study to be offered by S P Jain School of Global Management Pty Limited for a period of seven years until 22 June 2024:

• Diploma in Business

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed two conditions on the accreditation of the above course of study. S P Jain School of Global Management Pty Limited must:

Condition 1

Prior to marketing and enrolling students in the Diploma of Business provide to TEQSA a course rationale for the Diploma in Business which sets out the course objectives and outlines how and why online delivery will achieve these.

Condition 2

Prior to marketing and the enrolment of students in the accredited course of study provide evidence of accurate and current course information and copies of all student information materials for the Diploma in Business to TEQSA with particular attention to:

• accurate reflection of registration authorities and registration status as a higher education provider in Australia
• accurate reflection of staff associations with other universities
• grievance procedures in line with current Higher Education Threshold Standards
• provision of a clear and comprehensive overview of the objectives and rationale of the course of study to prospective students.

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

Main reasons for decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to S P Jain School of Global Management Pty Limited's application for accreditation of a course of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as S P Jain School of Global Management Pty Limited is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect S P Jain School of Global Management Pty Limited's capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

• The broad issues which relate to the Diploma in Business include:

TEQSA has determined, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), to grant accreditation of the following higher education courses of study offered by Academy of Information Technology (AIT) for a period of seven years until 26 February 2022.

• Bachelor of Digital Design
• Associate Degree of Digital Design
• Diploma of Digital Design

Background to Decision

AIT submitted an application for accreditation of three courses of study under Part 4 of the TEQSA Act. Subsection 45(4) of the TEQSA Act requires a registered higher education provider who is not authorised to self-accredit the course of study to apply to TEQSA for accreditation. Subsection 49(6) enables TEQSA to grant accreditation of a course of study for a period not exceeding seven years.

Main Reasons for the Decision

TEQSA has determined that the three higher education courses of study submitted by AIT for accreditation comply with the Provider Course Accreditation Standards. The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.
