  • Accreditation 26 July 2016

    Provider: Sheridan College Inc.

    Course: Master of Education

    Course accreditation

Report on accreditation of two higher education courses of study offered by Sheridan College Inc

A delegate of TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education courses of study offered by Sheridan College Inc until 15 July 2023:

    • Master of Education
    • Graduate Certificate of Education

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed four conditions on the accreditation of the above courses of study. Sheridan College Inc must:

    Condition 1:

    PCAS 2.2

Sheridan must provide evidence of its new agreements for provision of electronic library and information resources, including databases, and demonstrate that it ensures students have access required to achieve the learning outcomes of the course of study regardless of a student's place of study.

    Condition 2:

    PCAS 2.4

Sheridan must provide evidence of provision to prospective students of the revised course information with accurate and current information and advice for both full-time and part-time students regarding course delivery, student support services and access to library resources available during their study program

    Condition 3:

    PCAS 4.1 and 4.2

Sheridan must provide evidence that the staffing profile includes sufficient academic staff to provide supervision for the Research Project who have current scholarship activity and professional practice in the discipline that they teach in the course to support them to engage students in intellectual inquiry appropriate for the Master of Education.

    Condition 4:

Sheridan must not market or enrol students in the courses.

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

    Main reasons for decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to Sheridan College Inc's application for accreditation of two courses of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as Sheridan College Inc is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect Sheridan College Inc's capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

The broad issues which relate to the two courses of study include PCAS 2 in relation to course resourcing and information, and PCAS 4 in relation to the qualifications and expertise of the academic teaching staff.
