Report on renewal of accreditation of one higher education course of study offered by Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc

A delegate of TEQSA has renewed the accreditation, under section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), of the following higher education course of study offered by Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc for a period of three years until 6 May 2018:

• Diploma of Early Childhood and Primary Education (Montessori)

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the above courses of study.

Condition 1:

By 31 March 2016 and year thereafter, Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc must provide a report to TEQSA that presents accurate student performance data for students in the Diploma of Early Childhood and Primary Education (Montessori) course. The data within the report must be presented in excel format and include enrolment, attrition, progression, completion, progression and grade distribution data for the previous completed academic year. The data must be presented in a way that compares cohorts at each delivery location. Each report must be accompanied by a report reviewing the data and containing any management or Academic Board response which may be required.

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

Main Reasons for the Decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc's application for accreditation of one course of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc's capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

• The broad issues which relate to the Diploma of Early Childhood and Primary Education (Montessori) include:

  a) The extent to which Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc is able to demonstrate appropriate progression and completion rates relevant to Provider Course Accreditation Standard (PCAS) 5.5.

  b) The extent to which the staffing profile is appropriate to the nature, level, and mode of delivery of the course of study and the attainment of the expected student learning outcomes (PCAS 4.1).

Course accreditation

Report on revocation of conditions of accreditation of one higher education course of study offered by Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd

On 7 October 2016 a delegate of TEQSA revoked, under Section 53(2) and 53(3) of the TEQSA Act, Condition 2 and Condition 3 imposed on the accreditation of the following course offered by Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd (refer public report of 29 October 2015):

• Bachelor of Business (Accounting)

The decision to revoke the conditions was made on the basis that the delegate was satisfied that the conditions had been met.

Revoke/Vary Conditions

Report on revoking of two conditions and varying one condition of accreditation of three higher education courses of study offered by Excelsia College

On 19 December 2016 a delegate of TEQSA revoked, under Section 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, Conditions 1 and 2 imposed on the accreditation on 20 July 2016 of the following three courses:

• Master of Business Administration
• Graduate Diploma of Business Administration
• Graduate Certificate in Business Administration

The decision to revoke the condition was made on the basis that the delegate was satisfied that the conditions had been met.

On 19 December 2016 a delegate of TEQSA varied, under section 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, Condition 3 imposed on the accreditation on 20 July 2016 of the three courses as follows:

Condition 3:

Prior to enrolment of students, Excelsia College must provide evidence of:

• academic leadership, teaching staff qualifications, and current scholarship in the business field of education
• minutes of the relevant academic governance committee that demonstrate consideration and approval of any changes to the staffing arrangements for discipline leaders and principal researcher in the management field of education.

Renewal of course accreditation in teach out mode

Report on renewal of accreditation of three higher education courses of study in teach out mode offered by Melbourne Polytechnic

A delegate of TEQSA has renewed the accreditation, under Section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), of the following higher education courses of study in teach out mode offered by Melbourne Polytechnic for a period of two years until 15 August 2017:

• Bachelor of Education (Early Years)
• Associate Degree of Early Years Studies
• Bachelor of Early Years Studies

No new enrolments are permitted in the above courses.

Report on renewal of accreditation of three higher education courses of study in teach out mode offered by Melbourne Polytechnic

A delegate of TEQSA has renewed the accreditation, under Section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), of the following higher education courses of study in teach out mode offered by Melbourne Polytechnic for a period of two years until 15 August 2017:

• Bachelor of Education (Early Years)

On 14 May 2015 TEQSA revoked, under Section 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, three of the conditions imposed on the accreditation of the following courses offered by Acknowledge Education Pty Ltd (trading as Stott's Colleges):

• Bachelor of Business
• Bachelor of Business (Accounting)
• Bachelor of Business (Community Services Management)

The decision to revoke three of the conditions was made on the basis that TEQSA was satisfied that Conditions 1, 3 and 4 had been met.

TEQSA also varied, under Section 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, Condition 2 imposed on the above courses. The decision to vary Condition 2 extended the due date from 16 March 2015 to 31 August 2015 for Acknowledge Education Pty Ltd to meet the condition.

There are two conditions remaining on the accreditation of the above courses (refer Public Report Renewal of Accreditation 17 July 2014).
