Report on accreditation of two higher education courses of study offered by Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd

A delegate of TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education courses of study offered by Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd for a period of seven years until 28 November 2023:

    • Bachelor of Networking and Telecommunications
    • Diploma of Networking Technology

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed two conditions on the accreditation of the two higher education courses of study:

    Condition 1:

Prior to enrolment of students, Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd to provide evidence that specialised information technology facilities and resources have been procured consistent with the course of study requirements, and sufficient for students to achieve the expected learning outcomes.

    Condition 2:

Prior to enrolment of students Polytechnic Institute of Australia Pty Ltd to provide evidence of the academic staffing profile for delivery of the accredited courses consistent with the requirements of Provider Course Accreditation Standards 4.1 and 4.2.

    Main reasons for decision

TEQSA has determined that the two higher education courses of study submitted by Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd for accreditation comply with the Provider Course Accreditation Standards.

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to the accreditation of the two courses of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as the courses are at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards.

The broad issues which relate to the Bachelor of Networking and Telecommunications and the Diploma of Networking Technology include:

    • PCAS 2 in relation to course resourcing and access to specialized facilities and
    • PCAS 4 in relation to the staffing profile and qualification levels of teaching staff

Report on accreditation of two higher education courses of study offered by South Metropolitan TAFE

A delegate of TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education courses of study offered by South Metropolitan TAFE for a period of seven years until 29 June 2023:

    • Associate Degree of Fashion Business
    • Associate Degree of Aviation (Operations Management)

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed the following condition on the accreditation of the above courses of study.

    • That by 31 December 2016, South Metropolitan TAFE provides evidence that it has recruited a senior academic leader for the aviation discipline, with experience in higher education, scholarship and professional practice.

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

    Main reasons for decision
