Renewal of course accreditation in teach out mode

Report on renewal of accreditation of three higher education courses of study in teach out mode offered by Box Hill Institute (formerly Box Hill Institute of TAFE)

On 26 April 2020, a delegate of TEQSA renewed, under section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the accreditation of the following courses in teach out mode offered by Box Hill Institute for a period of two years until 26 April 2022:

• Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching
• Master of International Music Business
• Graduate Diploma in International Music Business

No new enrolments are permitted in the above courses.

Main reasons for the decision

TEQSA made this decision on the basis that it considers it appropriate to permit Box Hill Institute to teach out the above courses over a period of two years.

Extension of registration period

Report on extension of registration of The Tax Institute

On 4 May 2020, a delegate of TEQSA extended, under section 37A of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the registration of The Tax Institute from 24 July 2021 to 24 July 2024.

Main reasons for the decision

TEQSA made this decision in order to reduce the administrative burden of regulation for the provider in response to COVID-19 and its impact on the higher education sector. This decision is consistent with the principles set out in TEQSA's policy on extensions to the period of provider registration or course accreditation, including an assessment of risks associated with the extension.

Extension of accreditation period

Report on extension of accreditation of one higher education course of study offered by The Tax Institute

On 4 May 2020, a delegate of TEQSA extended, under section 57A of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the accreditation of the Graduate Diploma of Applied Tax Law, offered by The Tax Institute, from 24 July 2021 to 24 July 2024.

Main reasons for the decision

On 18 May 2020 a delegate of TEQSA varied, under section 53 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), Condition 1 imposed on the accreditation of the following courses offered by Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd (refer public report of 28 November 2016):

• Bachelor of Networking and Telecommunications
• Diploma of Networking Technology

The condition, as varied, is as follows:

Condition 1

Polytechnic Institute Australia Pty Ltd must not commence delivery, for each study period of the course of study until TEQSA notifies the provider that TEQSA is satisfied that the provider has in place specialised information technology facilities and resources consistent with the course of study requirements, and sufficient for students to achieve the expected learning outcomes.
