Report on extending the period of registration and accreditations of the Australian Institute of Management South Australian Division Incorporated

TEQSA has extended the period of registration of the Australian Institute of Management South Australian Division Incorporated (AIM SA) for a period of six months, from 31 October 2015 to 30 April 2016, under section 37A of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act).

TEQSA has extended the period of accreditation of the following AIM SA courses from 31 October 2015 to 30 April 2016, under section 57A of the TEQSA Act:

• Master of Business Administration
• Graduate Diploma in Management
• Graduate Certificate in Management

TEQSA has, under subsection 32(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the registration of AIM SA as a higher education provider.

Condition 1:

AIM SA may not enrol students or intending students for any of its TEQSA accredited courses after 31 October 2015.

Main Reasons for Decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply a condition to AIM SA's registration is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as the imposition of the above condition is in proportion to the risk of future non-compliance with the Threshold Standards.

• The broad issues which relate to AIM SA's registration include that:

  a) AIM SA is not intending to apply to renew its registration, as it is merging with the Australian Institute of Management Education and Training (AIM ET)

  b) as part of this merger, AIM SA plans to transfer current students to AIM ET

  c) the ability to undertake such a transfer is dependent on the successful accreditation of AIM ET courses.

Report on variation of conditions of accreditation of three higher education courses of study offered by Nan Tien Institute Limited

On 16 February 2016 TEQSA varied, under Section 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, two conditions imposed on 25 June 2015 on the accreditation of the following courses offered by Nan Tien Institute Limited:

• Diploma of Business
• Bachelor of Business
• Graduate Certificate of Business Analysis

The decision to vary the conditions was made on the basis that Nan Tien Institute has deferred the commencement of delivery of the courses.

The conditions were varied to provide:

Condition 3:

At least three months prior to the commencement of delivery of each course, provide to TEQSA evidence that NTI has developed assessment rubrics and assessment criteria for all subjects to be offered in the first three terms of delivery.

Condition 4:

At least three months prior to the commencement of delivery of the courses, provide to TEQSA additional information to demonstrate the adequacy of learning resources and library services. Specifically, NTI must provide evidence of:

1. the purchase and accessibility of appropriate on-line business data bases
2. the acquisition of suitable physical library holdings to support the delivery of the Business courses
3. appropriately qualified library support on site at its Sydney campus, including information as to the nature of the role (e.g. type of appointment, number of hours, qualifications).

Main reasons for decision

TEQSA has determined that the three higher education pathway courses of study submitted by Nan Tien Institute Limited for renewal of accreditation comply with the Provider Course Accreditation Standards and arrangements for delivery at all Australian sites.
