    A delegate of TEQSA has renewed the accreditation, under section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), of the following higher education course of study offered by Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc for a period of three years until 6 May 2018:

    • Diploma of Early Childhood and Primary Education (Montessori)

    TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the above courses of study.

    Condition 1:

    By 31 March 2016 and year thereafter, Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc must provide a report to TEQSA that presents accurate student performance data for students in the Diploma of Early Childhood and Primary Education (Montessori) course. The data within the report must be presented in excel format and include enrolment, attrition, progression, completion, progression and grade distribution data for the previous completed academic year. The data must be presented in a way that compares cohorts at each delivery location. Each report must be accompanied by a report reviewing the data and containing any management or Academic Board response which may be required.

    The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

    Main Reasons for the Decision

    TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc's application for accreditation of one course of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc's capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

    • The broad issues which relate to the Diploma of Early Childhood and Primary Education (Montessori) include:

      a) The extent to which Montessori World Educational Institute (Australia) Inc is able to demonstrate appropriate progression and completion rates relevant to Provider Course Accreditation Standard (PCAS) 5.5.

      b) The extent to which the staffing profile is appropriate to the nature, level, and mode of delivery of the course of study and the attainment of the expected student learning outcomes (PCAS 4.1).

    • Master of Philosophy (Major Thesis)
    • Master of Philosophy (Praxis and Exegesis)

    TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the above courses of study.

    That within 120 days William Angliss Institute revises the courses to guarantee the development of basic research awareness, skills and knowledge and ensure the inclusion of relevant theoretical frameworks and research findings.

    The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

    Main reasons for decision

    TEQSA considers that the decision to apply a condition to William Angliss Institute's application for accreditation of two courses of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as William Angliss Institute is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect William Angliss Institute's capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

    • The broad issue which relates to the Master of Philosophy (Major Thesis) and the Master of Philosophy (Praxis and Exegesis) is the lack of a formal structure for embedding theoretical frameworks and research skills into the courses which raises risks of non-compliance with PCAS 1.3 and 1.7
