Report on accreditation of four higher education courses of study offered by Academy of Information Technology Pty Ltd

A delegate of TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education courses of study offered by Academy of Information Technology for a period of seven years until 14 November 2023:

    • Bachelor of Information Technology (Games Programming)
    • Associate Degree in Information Technology (Games Programming)
    • Diploma of Information Technology
    • Associate Degree in Information Technology (Mobile Application Development)

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed three conditions on the accreditation of the above courses of study:

    Condition 1:

Within three months of the date of TEQSA's decision, Academy of Information Technology is to provide a revised course rationale which, to TEQSA's satisfaction, explains and ties in the particular approach for the design of these courses, the relationship of the courses with the intended market and the envisaged graduate outcomes.

    Condition 2:

Within three months of the date of TEQSA's decision, Academy of Information Technology is to provide a revised assessment strategy for the course subjects (CMP1042) and (CMP 1043) of the Diploma of Information Technology which has satisfactorily re-aligned the tasks so that the examination is no more than 60% of the final assessment.

    Condition 3:

    a) Within six months of the date of TEQSA's decision, Academy of Information Technology is to provide an appropriate benchmarking framework and implementation plan with details of the timing and methodology for the suite of courses in Mobile Application Development and Games Programming; and

    b) a report to TEQSA on the outcomes of the benchmarking plan by 1 December 2017.

    Main reasons for decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to the Academy of Information Technology's application for accreditation of four courses of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as Academy of Information Technology is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect the Academy of Information Technology's capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

    • The broad issues which relate to the courses of study include:

      a) The course documentation does not clearly present the course rationale and link to the graduate outcomes

      b) The assessment tasks for course subjects in two subjects in the Diploma of Information Technology do not provide adequate opportunity for students to demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes

      c) The provider does not have an effective benchmarking strategy and plan for the courses of study

    Provider: Acknowledge Education Pty Ltd

    Course: Diploma of Creative Enterprise

    Course accreditation

Report on accreditation of one higher education course of study offered by Acknowledge Education Pty Ltd (trading as Stott's Colleges)

A delegate of TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education course of study offered by Acknowledge Education Pty Ltd trading as Stott's Colleges ('Stott's') for a period of seven years until 1 April 2022:

    • Diploma of Creative Enterprise

    Main reasons for decision

TEQSA has determined that the one higher education course of study submitted by Stott's for accreditation complies with the Provider Course Accreditation Standards. The course accreditation covers delivery at the Melbourne campus and Sydney campus of Stott's, but Stott's has given an undertaking to TEQSA not to deliver the course at the Sydney campus until the Sydney campus meets the requirements of the Provider Course Accreditation Standards and TEQSA cancels the undertaking or agrees to the withdrawal of the undertaking.
