Report on revocation of conditions of accreditation of two higher education courses of study offered by Engineering Institute of Technology Pty Ltd

On 13 April 2016 TEQSA revoked, under Section 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, two conditions imposed on the accreditation of the following courses offered by Engineering Institute of Technology Pty Ltd:

• Master of Engineering (Electrical Systems)
• Graduate Diploma of Engineering (Electrical Systems)

The decision to revoke the two conditions was made on the basis that TEQSA was satisfied that Conditions 1 and 2 had been met.

Report on accreditation of two higher education courses of study offered by Engineering Institute of technology Pty Ltd

A delegate of TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education courses of study offered by the Engineering Institute of Technology Pty Ltd until 26 June 2021:

• Master of Engineering (Safety, Risk and Reliability)
• Graduate Diploma of Engineering (Safety, Risk and Reliability)

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the above courses of study.

Condition 1:

Within three months of the date of decision (1 June 2016), provide evidence of the Academic Board approval of a revised Recruitment, Selection, Appointment and Induction policy and procedure to ensure that appropriately qualified academic staff teach and assess coursework units including the thesis in the Master of Engineering (Safety, Risk and Reliability), consistent with the requirements of Provider Course Accreditation Standards 4.1, 4.2 and 5.2.

The courses of study listed above are accredited for offer in the following modes:

• Delivery mode: External
• Attendance mode: External

Main reasons for decision

TEQSA has determined that the two higher education courses of study submitted by Engineering Institute of Technology Pty Ltd for accreditation comply with the Provider Course Accreditation Standards. The courses have been submitted for accreditation on the basis of online delivery only.

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply a condition to the accreditation of the two courses of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as the courses are at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards.

• The broad issues which relate to the Master of Engineering (Safety, Risk and Reliability) and the Graduate Diploma of Engineering (Safety, Risk and Reliability) include PCAS 4.1, PCAS 4.2 and PCAS 5.2 (in relation to the ongoing academic staffing profile and qualifications, professional experience and scholarship activity of staff teaching and assessing the courses listed above).

On 13 November 2014 TEQSA made a decision, under Sections 32(2) and 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, to revoke the conditions imposed on the registration of Sheridan College Inc and the accreditation of the following courses (refer public report of 10 June 2014):

• Graduate Diploma of Business Administration
• Graduate Certificate in Business Administration

The decision to revoke the conditions was made on the basis that TEQSA was satisfied that the conditions had been met.

On 13 November 2014 TEQSA made a decision, under Sections 32(2) and 53(2) of the TEQSA Act, to revoke the conditions imposed on the registration of Sheridan College Inc and the accreditation of the following courses (refer public report of 10 June 2014):

TEQSA has determined, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), to grant accreditation of the following higher education courses of study offered by Kaplan Higher Education Pty Ltd for a period of seven years until 1 August 2020:

• Master of Financial Planning
• Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning

Background to Decision

Kaplan Higher Education Pty Ltd submitted an application for accreditation of two courses of study under Part 4 of the TEQSA Act. Subsection 45(4) of the TEQSA Act requires a registered higher education provider who is not authorised to self-accredit the course of study to apply to TEQSA for accreditation. Subsection 49(6) enables TEQSA to grant accreditation of a course of study for a period not exceeding seven years.

Main Reasons for the Decision

TEQSA has determined that the two higher education courses of study submitted by Kaplan Higher Education Pty Ltd for accreditation comply with the Provider Course Accreditation Standards. The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.
