Report on registration of Metavision Institute Pty Ltd

    On 16 December 2020, TEQSA:

    • granted, under section 21 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the application by Metavision Institute Pty Ltd for registration in the category of Higher Education Provider, for a period of five years until 16 December 2025.

    • accredited, under section 49 of the TEQSA Act, the applications by Metavision Institute Pty Ltd for accreditation of the following courses for a period of five years until 16 December 2025:
      • Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Holistic Practice)
      • Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Holistic Practice)
    • imposed, under section 53 of the TEQSA Act, two conditions on the accreditation of the Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Holistic Practice) and Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Holistic Practice).

      Condition 1
TEQSA requires that the Academic Director Higher Education, Associate Dean and Course Coordinator be appointed no later than four weeks prior to the commencement of teaching of the Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Holistic Practice) (GDC) and Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Holistic Practice) (MCP) courses. Metavision must provide TEQSA with the names and curricula vitae of proposed appointees to these positions and must not commence delivery of courses until TEQSA notifies Metavision that it is satisfied that the proposed appointments are appropriate.

      Condition 2
For a period of two years, beginning one month before the commencement of teaching of the GDC and MCP courses and thereafter no later than four weeks prior to the commencement of each teaching period of those courses, Metavision must provide TEQSA with a report which describes the units to be taught by each staff member (including casual and part-time staff), the relevant qualification(s) or professional experience of the staff member in relation to those units and the scholarly activities undertaken by the staff member in the preceding six months.

    Background

Metavision Institute Pty Ltd (Metavision) applied to TEQSA for registration in the category of Higher Education Provider and for the accreditation of two courses:

    • Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Holistic Practice)
    • Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Holistic Practice)

TEQSA considered Metavision's applications and provided a draft assessment report with details of the assessment of Metavision's applications by the responsible assessment team. TEQSA's Commission considered Metavision's response to the draft report and made the decision to approve Metavision's application for registration on 16 December 2020 on the basis that it was satisfied that Metavision met the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015 (HES Framework). Two conditions were imposed on the accreditation of Metavision's courses.

    Main reasons for the decision

TEQSA made these decisions on the basis that it was satisfied that Metavision meets the Provider Registration Standards and Provider Course Accreditation Standards of the HES Framework. However, TEQSA considered that there remained a number of risks related to Metavision's capacity to meet the Threshold Standards in the future.

On this basis, TEQSA agreed that it was appropriate to register Metavision for a period of five years until 16 December 2025, and to accredit Metavision's Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Holistic Practice) and Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Holistic Practice) courses for the same period. TEQSA also agreed it was appropriate to impose two conditions on its course accreditation.

    Application to withdraw conditions

In accordance with section 53 of the TEQSA Act, TEQSA may vary or revoke a condition imposed on the registration of a higher education provider, either on its own initiative or upon application by the provider for variation or revocation.
