• Accreditation and re-accreditation 8 December 2016

Provider: Australian College of the Arts Pty Ltd

Course: Bachelor of Digital and Social Media (formerly Bachelor of Arts (Digital & Social Media))

    Course accreditation/Renewal of course accreditation

Report on the accreditation of four higher education courses of study, and renewal of accreditation of three higher education courses of study offered by Australian College of the Arts Pty Ltd

    A delegate of TEQSA has:

    1. Accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education courses of study offered by Australian College of the Arts Pty Ltd for a period of seven years until 8 December 2023:

    • Bachelor of Arts (Content Creation)
    • Diploma of Arts (Content Creation)
    • Bachelor of Arts (Music Production)
    • Diploma of Arts (Music Production)

    2. Renewed the accreditation, under section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), of the following higher education courses of study offered by Australian College of the Arts Ltd for a period of seven years until 8 December 2023:

    • Bachelor of Arts (Music)
    • Bachelor of Arts (Audio Production)
    • Bachelor of Applied Business (Entertainment Management)

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation and renewal of accreditation of the above courses of study.

Australian College of the Arts Pty Ltd must review its English language entry requirements by 31 January 2017 to ensure that all students who are enrolled are sufficiently competent in the English language to participate effectively in the course of study and achieve its expected learning outcomes.

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

    Main Reasons for the Decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply the condition on the accreditation of four courses of study and renewal of accreditation of three courses of study is consistent with the basic principles of regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as Australian College of The Arts Pty Ltd is at risk of not complying with Provider Course Accreditation Standard 3 in relation to setting appropriate English language requirements for entry to the courses.
