TEQSA's 5 May letter to higher education providers

On Friday 5 May 2023, TEQSA's Chief Commissioner wrote to the Vice-Chancellors and CEOs of all registered higher education providers.

In this letter, TEQSA sought advice and views from registered providers in relation to the website Chegg.com.

This is consistent with our regulatory function, as we consult with the higher education sector about concerns we have received.

We are aware that this letter has since been the subject of media reporting which claimed TEQSA had informed ‘providers that Chegg contravenes an anti-cheating act’.

This is incorrect. No so such statement was made in the letter sent on 5 May 2023 and TEQSA has not yet made any such determination.

TEQSA has written to the media outlet requesting a clarification be made to the report.

In the interests of transparency, a copy of the letter is available below.
