TEQSA publishes SRE on adopting a definition of antisemitism
TEQSA has published its Statement of Regulatory Expectations (SRE): Adopting a definition of antisemitism.
The SRE provides guidance to providers as they prepare to meet the amended Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021 from 1 January 2027.
It clarifies that TEQSA expects providers to consider how their adopted definition integrates with complaints and grievance processes, staff and student guidance and institutional decision-making. Providers must also ensure that implementation maintains appropriate protections for the academic freedom of students and staff, which are also required in the Threshold Standards. Effective implementation and continuous improvement are essential.
