On 14 December 2021, a delegate of TEQSA extended, under section 57A of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the accreditation of the following courses offered by BBI The Australian Institute of Theological Education (formerly The Broken Bay Institute):
- Master of Religious Education from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Diploma in Religious Education from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Certificate in Religious Education from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Master of Leadership and Theology from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Theology from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Theology from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Master of Theological Studies from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Diploma in Governance and Canon Law from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025
- Graduate Certificate in Governance and Canon Law from 1 September 2023 to 1 September 2025.
Main reason for the decision
TEQSA made this decision in order to reduce the administrative burden of regulation for the provider in response to COVID-19 and its impact on the higher education sector. This decision is consistent with the principles set out in TEQSA's policy on extensions to the period of provider registration or course accreditation, including an assessment of risks associated with the extension.
