Main reasons for decision:

The decisions were made on the basis that TEQSA was not satisfied that Sydney Metropolitan Institute of Technology Pty Ltd meets the following provisions of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015

  • Standard 2.4.3 in relation to review of student grievances by an appropriate independent third party if internal processes fail
  • Standard 3.1.3 in relation to the planned teaching and learning activities for the Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship) 
  • Standards 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.2.3 and 3.2.4 in relation to staffing and academic leadership
  • Standard 5.1.3 in relation to academic scrutiny of the proposed Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship)
  • Standard 6.2.1 in relation to corporate monitoring and accountability
  • Criterion B1.1.1 (Higher Education Provider Category) in relation to meeting the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015 and offering at least one accredited course.
Review stage: Sydney Metropolitan Institute of Technology Pty Ltd has applied to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for a review of TEQSA’s decisions.
