TEQSA continues to be rated highly
The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) has released its regulator performance framework report, showing 80 per cent of surveyed stakeholders rated the agency’s overall performance as excellent or good.
Based on the results of its second stakeholder survey, sent to over 230 registered and prospective higher education providers and peak, professional and student bodies, the Regulator performance framework report 2016-2017 (the report) offers external validation of the agency’s performance during the last financial year.
TEQSA CEO, Anthony McClaran, said that the report, and the survey which informed it, are vital ways of ensuring the agency remains transparent and accountable.
"It is good to see that TEQSA continues to be well regarded by those it deals with and that our stakeholders are so willing to provide us with constructive feedback, said Mr McClaran."
“While the report contains many pleasing results, such as 90 per cent of principal contacts finding the quality of our regulatory information excellent or good, it also gives us clear guidance on where our stakeholders feel we can make improvements moving forward”.
The report analyses feedback against six key performance indicators and clearly shows where stakeholders felt the agency was excelling (quality and relevance of guidance materials and regulatory information) and where improvements could be made (streamlining, speed of response and case management).
It is also clear from the responses that private higher education providers continue to be less satisfied overall with TEQSA than public providers.
The agency is now in the process of developing initiatives to improve its future performance based on the report’s findings.
