Regulatory Risk Framework
TEQSA’s Regulatory Risk Framework (RRF) sets out TEQSA’s approach to undertaking structured regulatory risk assessments of registered higher education providers.
- Provides strengthened protection for students’ interests and the sector’s reputation by monitoring readily measurable aspects of a higher education provider’s operations (such as financial viability, and changes in student load, progress and outcomes)
- Provides a tool for tailoring regulatory processes and reporting to reflect risk, enabling TEQSA to reduce regulatory burden on the sector
- Supports early two-way dialogue between TEQSA and a provider about its operational strategy and potential areas of risk, before formal regulatory action or review.
TEQSA is currently reviewing the RRF to refine its approach ahead of the next cycle of annual risk assessments. It is intended that an update of the RRF will be released in late 2013, following consultation with the sector.
